The Town of Essex plans to reroute and reconstruct sections of the White Trail at Indian Brook Park to enhance accessibility and sustainability. Construction may begin as soon as summer or fall of 2026 and is anticipated to last approximately one month. The goal of this initial phase is to bring the trail from the boat launch trailhead to the campsites on the east side of the reservoir into compliance with ABA (Architectural Barrier Act) standards. By following natural contours and utilizing water-shedding techniques, the new trail alignment will help reduce soil erosion and create a more resilient and sustainable trail for the future. As one of the Town's most highly used parks, we are excited to work towards improving the accessibility of Indian Brook's trails.
