Economic Development Commission
The Economic Development Commission is responsible for promoting the quality of life in Essex. The mission of the Commission is to assist with the retention, expansion and development of existing business; assist with the location and development of new industrial and commercial firms to Essex; plan for development to assure economic diversification and to provide the Selectboard with advice to enhance our commercial and industrial base.

U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development Business Programs
Business Programs provide financial backing and technical assistance to stimulate business creation and growth. The programs work through partnerships with public and private community based organizations and financial institutions to provide financial assistance, business development, and technical assistance to rural businesses. These programs help to provide capital, equipment, space, job training, and entrepreneurial skills that can help to start and/or grow a business. Business Programs also support the creation and preservation of quality jobs in rural areas.

ACCD Department of Economic Development
The Department of Economic Development (DED) strengthens economic activity throughout the state to ensure Vermont's long-term economic health and promote growth in quality jobs for Vermonters. Find information on business resources, programs, international trade, and more.
ACCD Elevate Vermont
Elevate Vermont is a technology-based economic development program designed to catalyze growth in Vermont’s high tech business sector through increased access to targeted technical and research assistance. A mix of technical assistance and grant matching is available for one-on-one professional support to apply for Federal Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) grants; matching funds which can be used to offset costs related to commercializing a new product that cannot be supported with Federal SBIR/STTR funds, such as sales and marketing expenses; and Access to research institutions that can help solve product development challenges.
ACCD Funding and Incentives
Providing programs the serve a particular area of interest with specific eligibility requirements. Programs include the Vermont Community Development Program, Northern Border Regional Commission Grants, Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment Grant Program, and more.

Center for Women & Enterprise Vermont
The CWE Vermont is a nonprofit economic empowerment organization whose mission is to strengthen communities and the economy by supporting women to launch and successfully sustain businesses.
Community Capital of Vermont
Provides flexible financing for small or microbusinesses to people statewide who do not otherwise have access to capital. Through Business Advisory Services, the ensure borrowers' success through technical assistance in the areas of marketing and business operations.
Regional Development Corporations
The RDCs are the local contact for businesses and entrepreneurs seeking assistance. RDCs provide services directly to or connect businesses to services available through their networks and partnerships with local, State, and Federal programs and resources. Support from an RDC might look like helping you find commercial space, discussing how to fund the next part of your business’s growth, explaining grant programs, recommending a local lawyer or CPA, succession planning, registering a new business, and learning about the business community of your region. The Town of Essex is served by the Greater Burlington Industrial Corporation.

Vermont Business Roundtable
Created in 1987 as a nonprofit, public interest organization, the Vermont Business Roundtable is composed of CEOs of Vermont’s top commercial and nonprofit employers dedicated to making Vermont the best place in America to do business, be educated, and live life through collaboration, research and analysis, and communication and advocacy.
Vermont Community Loan Fund
Provides loans and other resources to local businesses, community organizations and nonprofits, early childhood education programs, and developers of affordable housing who do not qualify for a loan from a traditional lender.
Vermont Council on Rural Development
The Vermont Council on Rural Development (VCRD) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the support of the locally-defined progress of Vermont’s rural communities. VCRD is a dynamic partnership of federal, state, local, nonprofit and private partners.
Vermont Economic Development Authority (VEDA)
Created by the Vermont General Assembly in 1974, VEDA provides financing assistance to thousands of eligible Vermont commercial and agricultural businesses, helping them grow and create jobs.

Vermont Farm & Forest Viability Program
A program offered by the Vermont Housing & Conservation Board that enhances the economic viability of Vermont farms and forest enterprises. the program offers business advising to eligible Vermont farm, food, forest, and other agriculturally related businesses, and forest landowners.

The VMEC provides a wide variety of services that help give you a competitive advantage by developing or enhancing systems, processes, technologies, and people.
Vermont Small Business Development Center
The VtSBDC provides professional expertise and guidance to experienced business owners, first-time entrepreneurs, and students by assisting with start-up education and planning, financing guidance, sales and marketing strategies, growth strategies, financial management, risk management, operations recommendations, innovation and technology commercialization, and entrepreneur education for collegiate-age students, high school students, and faculty.
Veterans Business Outreach Center of New England
The Veterans Business Outreach Center (VBOC) program is a resource partner of the US Small Business Administration. Providing entrepreneurial development services and resource partner referrals to transitioning service members, veterans, National Guard & Reserve members and military spouses interested in starting or growing a small business.
